Project Naggari - The Literary World of A Nineteenth-Century Egyptian Sheikh

In this page, you can see the data from the inventory book concerning the printed titles in Naggari's possession at the moment of his death. The inventory-maker only noted the value, a short title, the fact that the title is a printed book, and whether it is mīrī (government-printed books) or barrānī (non-government printed book, what we call "external"). (The manuscript titles were registered with an short extra remark on their binding and decoration.) To help students, we add in this page the translitareted version of the short Arabic title. If you click on the little triangle symbol (►) you can find the actual print (if we could identify it) of which one copy was in al-Naggari's possession. And you can find also the 50 metadata categories in English (or Romanized Arabic transcription in ALA-LC) and in Arabic that we created based on this identified copy. If you want to learn more about our working method, levels of certainty, and about our categories, read the Reflections section.
